SerFibro Lam — PET-Foil Laminated Decorative Wet-Area Fibre Cement Board

SerFibro Lam is an advanced decorative interior and sheltered-zone building panel uniting the structural strength and EN 13501-1 Class A1 mineral core of an autoclaved TS EN 12467 NT fibre cement board with a factory-laminated PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) decorative surface foil. Engineered to replace slow wet ceramic tiling, fragile PVC cladding and moisture-sensitive melamine/MDF boards, it installs dry and requires zero painting, tiling or special maintenance.

Adhesion durability in steam-filled bathrooms and industrial washrooms depends entirely on glue-line chemistry. SerFibro Lam bonds the PET foil onto precision-prepared fibre cement sheets using moisture-curing PUR hot-melt structural polyurethane adhesive (~8,000 mPa·s application viscosity), melted in closed precision hot-melt units and roller-applied on continuous lamination lines—cross-linking irreversibly into a waterproof, heat- and alkali-resistant structural bond.

Manufactured from Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)—a high-grade thermoplastic belonging to the polyester family obtained via polycondensation—the decorative surface layer is 100% recyclable, dimensionally tough yet elastic so it never crazes or cracks, highly resistant to surface scratching and everyday abrasion, stain-proof against soaps/disinfectants, easily wiped clean, and colour-fast under UV and artificial lighting.

Unlike porous grout lines between ceramic tiles that darken with mildew and harbour bacteria, the continuous non-porous PET face of SerFibro Lam functions as an active vapour and moisture barrier completely unaffected by splashing water, high relative humidity or surface condensation. Alkali-resistant and biologically inert, it prevents mould, fungus and bacterial colonization in hospitals, clinics, kitchens and sanitary blocks.

Conventional PVC wall sheets contain chlorine halogens and phthalate plasticizers that release corrosive, toxic HCl fumes in a fire, while resin-impregnated wood panels off-gas formaldehyde. SerFibro Lam’s PET foil contains zero formaldehyde, zero halogen compounds, zero plasticizers and zero heavy-metal cadmium—ensuring zero indoor carbon off-gassing in schools and hospitals and zero toxic halogen gas emission during combustion over its Class A1 mineral core.

SerFibro Lam is engineered across nine core applications: (1) bathroom, WC and wet-room wall linings, (2) sanitary WC/shower cubicle systems, (3) demountable partition walls, (4) modular office and hospital partition walls, (5) prefabricated building and living-container interior walls and ceilings, (6) suspended ceiling tiles and planks, (7) insulated interior sandwich wall panel production, (8) moisture-proof furniture and cabinet manufacturing, and (9) high-humidity industrial enclosures.

Available in 1250 × 2500 mm (3.125 m²) and 1250 × 3000 mm (3.750 m²): 6 mm serves suspended ceilings, container ceilings and sandwich panel skins (100 / 80 pcs per pallet); 8 mm is the primary wall lining thickness for bathrooms, hospitals and prefab interiors (75 / 60 pcs per pallet); 10 mm serves heavy-traffic demountable commercial partitions (60 / 50 pcs per pallet); and 12 mm serves self-supporting sanitary cubicles and wet-zone cabinetry (50 / 45 pcs per pallet).

When installing 8 mm SerFibro Lam on partition framing, fasten boards with corrosion-resistant screws at 20 cm centre-to-centre spacing, maintaining a minimum 20 mm clearance from panel edges and a minimum 50 mm clearance from panel corners to prevent corner stress. Join adjacent main partition sheets cleanly using "H" carrier profiles and finish internal/external corner junctions with matching "F" profiles (sealing wet-zone profile rebates with sanitary silicone where splash-tightness is required).

Cut SerFibro Lam dry on clean felt-padded worktables using fine-tooth carbide or continuous-rim diamond saw blades with dust extraction so the decorative PET foil edge cuts razor-sharp without chipping. Support cutoffs fully, vacuum dust immediately without abrasive scrubbing, and keep protective interleaving between decorative faces until installation.

To prevent flexural sag and moisture ingress during road or sea transit, SerFibro Lam must be shipped flat on strapped, nylon-wrapped wooden pallets constructed with a minimum of 5 support skids (bearers), transported exclusively inside closed containers or tarpaulin-covered trucks.

Store pallets indoors on level, dry concrete floors out of direct sun and rain. When stacking pallets, total stack height must not exceed 3 metres and upper-pallet skids must align vertically right above lower-pallet skids to avoid point-bending loads. Whenever a pallet wrap is opened for partial site use, re-wrap the remaining sheets immediately with protective nylon.

Never pull, slide or drag a SerFibro Lam sheet horizontally off the pallet stack, as cementitious grit on the raw rear face could scratch the decorative PET surface of the sheet beneath. Always lift boards straight up vertically with two operatives and carry them vertically on edge (upright) to the installation bay.
